Pyatigorsk resident complains to President Putin about investigators’ inaction

A complaint about attempted robbery has not been investigated for more than a year, and the prosecutor’s office has not taken any actions, claims Miko Akopov, an injured resident of Pyatigorsk. The man has sent complaints about the investigators’ inaction to President Putin and the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Miko Akopov told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent that on March 24, 2023, court marshals came to his place of residence in a case on division of property with his former wife. The woman tried to steal an envelope containing 1.7 million roubles from her former husband, although the money was not a part of the jointly acquired property.

Miko Akopov did not let his former wife to take the envelope, which resulted in a conflict between them and the woman beat him up. In connection with the attempted theft of money on an especially large scale, the man filed a crime report with the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). However, Miko Akopov is refused in institution of a criminal case.

In his complaint addressed to the President of Russia, Miko Akopov has pointed out violations in the work of the MIA’s Investigating Department for Pyatigorsk and its chief. In particular, Miko Akopov complains about bureaucratism and cover-up of the crime that he believes was committed by his former wife.

Lawyer Pavel Misharin reported that upon receiving the report on the crime, investigators were to institute a criminal case. “This is a particularly grave crime, the punishment for which provides for over 10 years of imprisonment,” Pavel Misharin said. The lawyer notes that a necessary sign of attempted robbery is “at least the infliction of beatings.”
