Details of case of KBR resident about knowingly false denunciation made public

The case was opened more than two years after the examination of the document, in which Asker Shetov denies his involvement.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Supreme Court (SC) of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) had found Shetov not guilty of knowingly false denunciation.

According to the prosecution, during interrogation, Shetov, knowing about criminal liability for knowingly false denunciation, slandered the expert who had conducted the forensic handwriting examination. In particular, he reported that the expert had forged the conclusion, indicating that the signatures in the confession were made, "probably", by Shetov himself. However, according to Shetov, he had not written the confession; and no handwriting samples were taken from him.

Shetov was accused of knowingly false denunciation and brought to criminal responsibility.

In 2019, a local resident contacted the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) with a statement about extortion of 300,000 roubles from him. Allegedly, they tried to blackmail him, that they would tell law enforcement bodies that he was evading taxes. Shetov was detained on suspicion. According to witnesses, policemen, he had confessed to extortion and decided to write a confession.

Shetov himself said that in 2019 he was detained, although he had committed no crime. Having shown him an extortion application, policemen said that if he signed a confession, he would only receive a conditional sentence; otherwise he would go to jail.
