Volgograd lawyer Nurushev achieves return of some belongings seized during search
After numerous complaints, three months later, law enforcers have returned part of the things seized during the search, Ruslan Nurushev, a lawyer, has informed. In order to collect the fine imposed on Nurushev, court marshals blocked his bank card.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 12, 2024, law enforcers conducted a search of the home of Ruslan Nurushev, a lawyer and activist, and seized his computer and phones. On August 22, he said that he had contacted investigating bodies with a request to return the equipment, but his requests were ignored.
The search was conducted as part of the criminal case opened against Evgeny Kochegin*, a former coordinator of Navalny's regional office. Law enforcers explained to Nurushev that he was a witness in the case. He was also fined by 50,000 roubles under the article on insulting the authorities because of his post in a social network about President Putin.
Court marshals blocked Nurushev's salary card as part of the verdict about the fine of 50,000 roubles imposed on him. Also on September 18, he was summoned to the police station and his phones, flash drives and hard drive were returned to him. They did not return the computer, since it was still undergoing examination.
Mr Nurushev has explained that he achieved the return of the items seized during the search through complaints. He has noted that he remains a witness in the Kochegin's case.
