Kadyrov forbids taking prisoners of war after drone attack on Gudermes

The leader of Chechnya promised retaliation for a drone attack on the building of the Russian Special Forces University in Gudermes. Ramzan Kadyrov ordered military commanders not to take prisoners of war (POWs) in the special military operation (SMO) zone.

Today, after the drone attack, a building located on the territory of the Russian Special Forces University caught fire. Ramzan Kadyrov reported that there were no casualties. The attack using drones was the first in Chechnya since the beginning of the special military operation in Ukraine.

“Today I gave orders to all commanders on the front lines not to take prisoners of war, to destroy enemy, and to intensify the fight by 100%. So that the enemy understands how the Chechens can still enhance their military capabilities,” the leader of Chechnya announced in a video posted on the Telegram channel of the “Vainakh” GTRK (State TV and Radio Broadcasting Company).

Ramzan Kadyrov explained that the Russian Special Forces University was chosen for the drone attack, since “about 50,000 fighters” had been sent from there to the special military operation zone.

In July 2023, a ban on the use of civilian drones was announced in Chechnya. Law enforcers have been instructed to stop the flights of drones that do not belong to government agencies.
