Protests against extradition of Chechen native held in Belgium and Austria

The Chechen native detained in France faces deportation to his homeland; and members of the local Diaspora have held rallies in his defence.

On November 18, protest actions were held in Vienna and Brussels in front of the French Embassies, officials thereof were given appeals from the organizations named the "European Peace House" and "Multicultural Democratic Initiative".

Tsintsaev, the above Chechen native, was detained in June this year in France and is kept in prison there. He faces extradition via the Interpol, the VAYN SIY Telegram channel has informed.

"I appeal to the entire Chechen Diaspora; regardless of views and disagreements, [I call] to unite and everywhere, wherever you are, hold protests. I ask everyone not to remain indifferent, since we have a large number of people in prisons and on lists under extradition threat," the author of the message has urged, noting that recently deportations and extraditions of Chechen refugees from Germany, Austria, France, Poland, and Bosnia and Herzegovina have become more frequent.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in October, a protest action against extradition of a woman, native of Chechnya, to Russia was held in Austria. The 32-year-old Selima, who had fled domestic violence, was detained in Bosnia.
