In Quarter 3 of 2024, two persons perished and one was wounded in ongoing armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

From July 1 to September 30, 2024, at least three people suffered during the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus: two perished and one was wounded. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from open sources.

On September 30, law enforcers detained eight residents of Ingushetia, who, according to the FSB, were preparing acts of sabotage at energy facilities and attacks on law enforcers. Seven suspects were detained in the cities of Magas and Nazran, the eighth one rendered armed resistance and was shot dead.

The above statistics cannot present the number of victims with 100-percent accuracy. Not all the data get into news tapes. It is not always possible to verify the accuracy of the statements made by law enforcement bodies; and new data on the events of the reporting period sometimes become known after the publication of statistics by the "Caucasian Knot".

On September 3, a man with a screwdriver attacked traffic policemen of the DPS (road-and-patrol service) post located at the entrance to Magas. One policeman was wounded, and the attacker was shot dead, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reported. Investigators reported about a criminal case opened in connection with the attempt on the policeman.

Earlier, in Quarter 2 of 2024, 40 people were killed and 48 others wounded. A year ago, in Quarter 3 of 2023, no victims were recorded.
