Blogger from Dagestan convicted of mocking Orthodox cross

The Dorogomilovsky Court of Moscow has sentenced Khavier Yarmagomedov, a native of Dagestan, to seven years in colony for trampling an Orthodox cross. He was also found guilty of spreading child pornography and was deprived of the right to administer websites for eight years.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Yarmagomedov had publicly apologized to believers for trampling the Christian cross during a live broadcast on the Internet. He was arrested on charges of insulting believers' feelings and distributing child pornography.

In recent years, cases under the article on insulting believers' feelings have been opened more and more often; and maximum punishments are often imposed for them, lawyers said earlier.
