Rights activists explain logic behind persecuting Elena Patyaeva
To justify the administrative prosecution of Elena Patyaeva, a Seda Suleimanova's friend, the court has announced the poster she was holding to be a collapsible structure. This is reported by the “Slovo Zaschite” (Floor to Defence) Telegram channel.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the court sentenced Elena Patyaeva to 20 hours of compulsory works, treating her solo picket held on a bridge in Saint Petersburg as an unsanctioned public action. Patyaeva claims that her detention was illegal and has complained that after detention, her advocate was not allowed to see her.
On January 29, at the picket, Patyaeva stated that over 10 months, the inquiry into the Seda Suleimanova’s disappearance had yielded no results. Law enforcers detained Elena, citing a violation of anti-Covid restrictions, but then she was charged with organizing an unsanctioned public action.
In April 2024, it became known that the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) was investigating the disappearance of Seda Suleimanova under the murder article.
