Pashinyan announced coup d'etat prevention
In his official page in a social network, the Armenian Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan, has posted a copy of the "failed" opposition plan to remove him from power.
Mr Pashinyan has reported prevention of a coup d'etat in Armenia, publishing a document in his Facebook* page with the text of the alleged opposition plan to remove him from power.
According to Pashinyan's post, he considers former Armenian presidents, Robert Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan, the recently arrested businessman Samvel Karapetyan and the head of the Armenian Apostolic Church Garegin II to be the direct authors of the plan – the Prime Minister has illustrated the post with the images of the alleged authors.
"This process will go down in history as a ‘failed scoundrels’ putsch’,'" he has written.
The document in the PDF format released by Pashinyan was posted by the “Civic.am” website as "The Opposition's Coup Plan" and is a photograph of a seven-page printed text. According to the website's editors, the plan was provided to them by "reliable sources in the opposition."
The document describes in stages the actions that, according to its authors, should lead to a change of power in Armenia. The goal of the plan is called "the overthrow of Nikol Pashinyan's regime," and July 23 is indicated as the start of the first stage thereof.
According to the document, from July 23 to August 1, a campaign should be held in social networks, including the TikTok, to ridicule Pashinyan and turn him into a "popular meme," while other information resources will create a "background of anxiety and disappointment." From August 2 to 11, the dissemination of "targeted disinformation about secret negotiations" is planned with "confirmations from Russian partners" – this was the authors’ plan; at this time Pashinyan should lose his supporters’ trust. The start of the implementation of the active phase of the plan with street actions was scheduled for August 22, so that by the Armenia's Independence Day on September 21 the movement will reach its "peak".
Bagrat Galstanyan is given a significant role in the plan; he is also named the first candidate for the post of prime minister during the transition period - according to the document authors, Galstanyan has the highest and most stable rating for such a role.
