Fire at oil depot in Sochi localized

The Ministry of Emergency Situations has localized a fire that started at an oil depot in the Adler district after a drone attack. According to authorities, the fire has spread to a second tank with oil products.

As "Kavkazsky Uzel" wrote, last night at an oil depot in the Adler district as a result of a drone attack a tank with oil products with a capacity of 2000 cubic meters caught fire. Five garages in a garage cooperative and a store on Aviatsionnaya Street were also damaged. According to authorities, there are no casualties.

The fire at the oil depot in the Adler district of Sochi has been localized, the Kuban operational headquarters reported on its Telegram channel. According to the publication, the fire had previously spread to another tank.

According to authorities, firefighters completely extinguished the fire at one of the tanks and localized it at the second. "The total area of the fire was 362 square meters," the publication says.

In the garage cooperative on Aviatsionnaya Street, the total area of the fire in five garages was 40 square meters, the operational headquarters specified. "The fire was quickly extinguished. There was also a report of a fire in a store. Upon arrival of fire and rescue units at the scene, the fire was not confirmed," the report says.

A fire train has been brought in to extinguish the fire at the oil depot, Sochi Mayor Andrei Proshunin added on his Telegram channel. "Buildings in the garage cooperative on Aviatsionnaya were damaged. Heavy equipment has been brought to the site - we have been clearing the rubble since the morning, helping people and minimizing the risk of collapses. Monitoring groups are interviewing victims in order to quickly provide the necessary assistance," he wrote.

Recall that in March, after a drone attack, a fire broke out at an oil depot in the village of Kavkazskaya. It took seven days to extinguish it. Social media users in the comments to the governor's report on the liquidation of the fire asked questions about the damage to the environment and measures to prevent successful drone attacks.

The authorities of the Krasnodar Territory should have requested help from other regions to extinguish the fire at the oil depot, and not try to downplay the seriousness of the situation, social media users pointed out. Residents of Kropotkin complained about deteriorating health due to smoke and soot from the oil depot.
