Armenians of Krasnodar Territory demand from Turkish authorities to solve Hrant Dink's murder
On January 20, a meeting of leaders of a number of Armenian NGOs of the Krasnodar Territory was held in Tenginka village of the Tuapse District. The meeting was in memory of Hrant Dink, editor-in-chief of the Armenian newspaper "Agos" published in Turkey who was killed one year ago.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed at the editorial board of the newspaper of Russian Armenians "Erkramas" that the participants of the meeting listened to presentations and passed an appeal to the leaders of EU countries calling them to exert pressure on the authorities of Turkey and demand from them to run an objective investigation into Hrant Dink's murder and to reveal the true reasons of this crime.
In particular, the appeal of the representatives of the Armenian community of the Krasnodar Territory runs as follows:
"The murder of Hrant Dink had become a result of the policy of hatred towards representatives of national minorities pursued by the authorities of Turkey, and the committed atrocity was intended to be an act of intimidation against those who try in Turkey to move towards discussion of the Armenian issue. The Turkish authorities shall bear responsibility for the incident, since they had set up the atmosphere of intolerance in their country. <...>
We are convinced that only through revision by Turkey of dark pages of its history, namely, the recognition of the fact of Genocide of Armenians, can entitle Turkey to apply for its place in Europe."
