Ex-Deputy Public Prosecutor of Armenia calls political prisoners to fortitude

On April 11, Gagik Dzangiryan, arrested ex-Deputy General Public prosecutor of Armenia, disseminated his statement that the criminal prosecution against himself and his brother has no legal grounds and has exclusively political character.

"As an Armenian, a scientist, and a public prosecutor, who is concerned with the future of Armenia, I could not stand aside of the public movement. Being guided by the right for the freedom of speech proclaimed by the Constitution and a number of ratified international norms, I publicly expressed my opinion in relation to the processes that took place in Armenia. For all my life, I never gave up my opinion on this or that question. No pressure or obstacle can force me to change my point of view, especially now, when the future and destiny of my Homeland is at stake. I call all our people, and also those who were arrested for their political views, to display fortitude and not to give up under any pressure. I express my support to all political prisoners. As a lawyer, I've chosen the legal way of struggle," Gagik Dzangiryan has declared.

He has called all the arrested activists of the opposition to continue their struggle by all possible legal means, in spite of the fact that their illegal prosecution has political character.
