Armenia: "Heritage" faction prepares appeal in defence of arrested Deputies

The parliamentary faction named "Heritage" has launched collecting signatures in the National Assembly of Armenia under petition to the General Public Prosecutor with a demand to change the freedom restriction measure of the Deputies arrested during the events on March 1.

Stepan Safaryan, secretary of the faction, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent about it.

On March 12, the National Assembly passed a decision to deprive four Deputies - Sasun Mikaelyan, Akop Akopyan, Miasnik Malkhasyan and Khachatur Sukiasyan - of their Deputy's immunity and initiation of a criminal case against them. The veterans of the Karabakh war: Mikaelyan, Akopyan and Malkhasyan were arrested, and Sukiasyan was announced in search.

On April 17, the investigatory body changed the freedom restriction measure for Suren Surenyants, member of the Political Board of the "Republic" Party, having replaced arrest by the recognizance not to leave.
