Children and women evaluated from South Ossetia arrive in Russia

The coaches with children and women evacuated from South Ossetia have crossed the Russian border. Meanwhile, 300 volunteers from Russia have already arrived in South Ossetia.

"The coaches left the village of Dzhava, which is close to the Russian border, earlier than expected", said Vladimir Ivanov, head of North Ossetia Ministry of Emergency press-service, to RIA Novosti.

According to him, 14 coaches have arrived on the Russian territory from South Ossetia, carrying 280 women and children. Initially it was supposed that there would be about 500 people. However,  it became clear already in Dzhava that part of children had no relatives in North Ossetia.

According to Dmitri Medoyev, plenipotentiary representative of the South Ossetia president in Russia, in case of an armed aggression of Georgia, South Ossetia "is not going to face the enemy alone ". Medoyev stated this over the radio "Echo Moskvy". He noted that, in case of any aggravation, "brothers from North Ossetia, Abkhazya and Cosssacks from the south of Russia" would render help in rebuffing the aggression.

In his turn, Eduard Kokoity, president of the unrecognized republic, stated that about 300 volunteers already arrived to South Ossetia from North Ossetia, while up to two thousand people were expected to come. According to the president of the unrecognized republic, a lot of proposals came from North Caucasus republics and Abkhazya to send their volunteers to South Ossetia.
