Georgia denies involvement in terror act in Abkhazia

The accusations of the Georgian party of organizing the explosion near the building of the State Security Service (SSS) of Abkhazia are groundless, insists Alexander Lomaya, Secretary of the Security Council of Georgia. As he said, the reasons for the explosion should be sought in contradictions inside the Abkhazian leadership.

According to his version, the Abkhazian party should "recognize the oppositions that exist inside the separatist regime" instead of take the explosion out on "certain external forces."

"It's quite clear that the explosion near the SSS building of Abkhazia is a terror act," said on air Sergey Shamba, head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the republic. "Even now, there are no other explanations of the fact. This is the state terrorism incessantly used by Georgia for the recent 15 years."

According to his explanation, Abkhazia "doesn't have such internal situation to make explosions, no political and ethnic contradictions of this sort." Mr Shamba could not exclude that Russian experts will take part in clearing the explosion, the "Gazeta.Ru" reports.

The law enforcement bodies of Abkhazia do not exclude that the today's terror act in Sukhumi was directed against the head of the Republic's State Security Service (SSS) Yuri Ashuba. A car stuffed with explosive was parked under the window of his study, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

By experts' conclusion, the car "Zhiguli" model that was blown up in the morning at the SSS building had a clockwork and was stuffed with 50 kg of trotyl, explosive gelatine (plastid) and metal striking elements.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed about it at the State Security Service of Abkhazia.
