Baku: group of Moslems protests against Israelis' actions in Gaza Strip

On January 2, about 40 persons rallied near the Israeli Embassy in Azerbaijan to voice their protest against Israel's actions of in Gaza Strip.

A protest action of a group of Moslems was to take place in the centre of Baku in defence of Palestinians. The police was warned about the intention to hold a non-sanctioned action and have not allowed holding it, as the "Echo Moskvy" Radio reports. To prevent the action, a group of participants was detained in the morning in the place of the rally. The police took them to police stations.

However, in spite of that, about 40 persons rallied near the Embassy. They declared their protest against bombardment of the Strip by Israelis and demanded to respect the rights of Palestinians and let humanitarian goods into the area. 10 minutes later, the police dispersed the protesters, the ANS TV reports.

The Israeli Embassy in Azerbaijan has stated that such actions take place from time to time, and the diplomatic mission surely responds to protesters' demands.
