Georgian media predict Prime Minister's resignation
On Friday, January 9, the Georgian newspaper "Resonansi" reported, with reference to its own sources, that Prime Minister of Georgia Grigol Mgaloblishvili is going to declare his resignation.
The information about the conflict between Prime Minister and President of Georgia and about possible Mgaloblishvili's resignation appeared late last year; however, on January 5 it was officially refuted. Now, Prime Minister is taking his medical treatment in Germany.
The "Resonansi" writes that there is an unofficial version that Mr Mgaloblishvili has already filed his resignation application. The edition assumes that the Premier will declare his resignation from Germany.
Meanwhile, Grigol Mgaloblishvili himself said in his telephone conversation with the "Rustavi-2" TV Company that he was undergoing his medical examination in Germany and would soon return to Georgia, the "Interfax" reports.
The Prime Minister needed a complex medical examination after he had experienced acute renal complications (disturbance of kidney functionality) at the background of general overwork. For the period of his absence in the country and illness, the duties of Prime Minister will be performed by First Vice Premier Nika Gilauri.
