Militiaman attacked in Ingushetia, special operation is underway

The FSB Department for Ingushetia has introduced the counterterrorist operation regime in the vicinity of Alkun village in response to the information that militants were seen there. This was reported by the spokesman of the operative staff in Ingushetia.

Last time, a counterterrorist operation was conducted in the republic on December 6. Then, the law enforcement bodies announced that during the special operation undertaken by power agencies of Ingushetia in the Barsukinskiy District of Nazran two militants were liquidated.

The spokesman of the operative staff told the RIA "Novosti" that the operation zone was blocked by internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Ingush militiamen.

According to the "Interfax", the fight of the law enforcement units with unknown armed persons burst out near Alkun and Muzhichi villages. So far, there is no information about casualties or victims. For the time of the operation, the area is under a number of restrictions, citizens and vehicles are searched and screened.

Also today in Ingushetia, an attempt was made on Mukhazhir Evloev, head of the Malgobek ROVD (District Militia Unit). The militia boss remained untouched by shelling, but his driver Rashid Daurbekov was killed, as the ITAR-TASS reports.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that according to the information of Usman Belkharoev, first deputy head of the Investigatory Department for Ingushetia of the Investigatory Committee at the Prosecutor's Office (ICPO) of the Russian Federation, in 2008, 167 law enforcers and militaries were wounded in armed attacks, whereas in 2007 only 80 such incidents were registered. In 2007, 32 employees of power agencies were killed, and during 11 months of 2008 the list of casualties exceeds 70.
