Moscow gives a billion to restore Tskhinvali

Mayor of Moscow Yuri Luzhkov has signed an order to allocate one billion roubles for rebuilding the city of Tskhinvali, the capital of South Ossetia.

Alexander Krutov, a member of the budgetary-financial commission of the Moscow City Duma, has reported that by the end of the fiscal year Moscow's budget has a balance of 100 billion roubles, and over one billion from this balance will be spent to restore the infrastructure of South Ossetia, as the "Echo Moskvy" Radio reports.

The allotted money is not the first aid of Russian capital to South Ossetia. By September 1 this year, with support of Moscow's money, allotted from last autumn, Tskhinvali will finish building the micro-district named "Moskovskiy", as the ITAR-TASS reports.

"Currently, 200-odd cottages are being built, about 20 of them are being finished," the "Strojkomplex" of Moscow reports.

It is planned that the new micro-district will house more than 3,000 residents and cover the area of 60 hectares. The budget of Moscow will provide 2.5 billion roubles for construction of the micro-district.
