Ivanishvili: Georgian authorities get ready to April 9, soldiers had to give away their mobile phones
The authorities of Georgia get ready to the opposition's protest action on April 9. Relatives of Georgian soldiers complain that the authorities keep servicemen in information vacuum. The opposition is not set up to initiate any clashes, as the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by Khatuna Ivanishvili, press secretary of Nino Burdzhanadze, leader of the Party "Democratic Movement - United Georgia.
Now, according to Ms Ivanishvili, news items arrive that in the square near the parliament power agencies are in preparation. "We have information that soldiers of the Georgian army were deprived of their mobile phones. They are also prohibited to watch TV. They are held in information vacuum. However, we don't have confirmed information - we get data from soldiers' families," said Khatuna Ivanishvili.
"On our part, we'll make everything possible and impossible to keep everything within constitutional norms, without any collisions and provocations. But what the government will do… We've no guarantees," she has added.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by Georgian political scientist Paata Zakareishvili that "so far, everything is quiet in Tbilisi, no special actions of power agents are seen."
