Ship of Turkey's Naval Forces arrives to Georgia for exercises
Today, a destroyer named "Kemalreis" of the Naval Forces of Turkey has dropped anchor in the port of Poti in Georgia for a three-day friendly visit. On April 12-13, it will take part in joint exercises of Georgian frontier guards and Turkish destroyer's crew members.
Under the agreement on bilateral cooperation in frontier business, the Turkish ship will stay in Poti till April 13. The mission of the visit is to exchange experiences in defending marine borders and hold joint exercises.
The ITAR-TASS reports with reference to the Georgian frontier administration that the joint Georgian-Turkish exercises "Marine Star-2009" will have two stages. The first one (April 12) assumes training at the Turkish destroyer on ensuring communication and fire localization, while the second stage (April 13) will include practical exercises on searching and rescuing people at sea and tactical manoeuvres.
The "Georgia Today" Agency adds that the visit of the Turkish ship to Poti and joint exercises will be held "within the cooperation plan in the frontier sphere between Georgia and Turkey and under the 2009 action plan."
