IDPs demand privileges in Nagorny Karabakh

The village of Nor Maraga, Martakert District, Nagorny Karabakh, hosted a roundtable organized by the NGO of Nagorny Karabakh refugees. The meeting discussed the need to award the internally displaced persons (IDPs) with the respective status and privileges stipulated by the law for refugees. The roundtable participants suggested to draft a bill on the rights of IDPs and submit it to the government.

As a result of the war, several tens thousand residents of Karabakh villages, now under Azerbaijani control, have abandoned their houses leaving all their property there. Most of them then emigrated to Russia, but some remained in Karabakh and still live in the heaviest conditions.
