Sanakoev: water supply failure liquidated in South Ossetia
Dmitri Sanakoev, administration head of the temporary territorial unit, has told journalists today that "the Edisi-Tskhinval water line failure in the Kekhvi-Tamarasheni section was liquidated yesterday: the pipe has been repaired, and now the water supply can be restored. Water could have been supplied earlier, however now, after repair works, I can state with full responsibility that there are no water leakages from the pipeline."
The "Caucasian Knot" has informed earlier that the water blockade of Tskhinval began on May 24.
The South-Ossetian party had technical capabilities to cut, as a response measure, supplies of potable and irrigation water to the Georgian villages of South Ossetia, and to the whole Gori District (since water sources originate in the Dzhava District of South Ossetia, which is outside the conflict zone), however, it had kept from doing it for ten days. Only on June 3, the irrigation water was cut off from the Georgian party, and on June 4, the South-Ossetian party declared the stop of potable water supply too.
