Armenian police would not support Levon Ter-Petrosyan

The police of Armenia have disseminated a statement about their readiness "to strike a blow back on any attempts to violate the public order and destabilize the situation, with the aim to prevent any manifestations of anarchy and defend constitutional rights of citizens."

The document also emphasizes that the rumours about resignation of the Police bosses, including the Chief of the Police Aik Arutyunyan, disseminated by supporters of Levon Ter-Petrosyan, are false and have nothing to do with reality," the "Gazeta.Ru" reports.

However, the press service of Armenian President has informed that today President Robert Kocharyan has signed a decree on dismissing Gagik Dzhangiryan from the post of Deputy General Public Prosecutor.

The police actions refer also to supporters of Serzh Sarkisyan, the winner, according to the data of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), at the presidential election. They spent last night in the buses, in which they arrived to Yerevan. In order to prevent bloodshed, the traffic police of Armenia stopped them.

The protesters cried out slogans: "Down with Levon - destroyer of Armenia!" and called not to fear Levon Ter-Petrosyan's supporters, who were holding their rally for two day in the Freedom Square of Yerevan.
