Scientist from Kabardino-Balkaria: much of Russia's political practice can be treated as radicalism
Dangerous (ideological and political-ideological) forms of radicalism are fed and provoked by seemingly harmless manifestations of radicalism that abound in our life.
This idea was expressed by Doctor of Philosophy Khazhismel Tkhagapsoev, Professor of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University, in his presentation at the public hearing "Youth and Radicalism" held on May 27, 2008, by the RF Public Chamber in Nalchik, the capital of Kabardino-Balkaria.
The speaker has objected to the idea that the problem of radicalism has just two or three reasons. It is manifested under the Islam shelter, in migration and among migrants, and in interethnic tensions.
Having noted that the Islamic radicalism exists and is dangerous in its numerous forms - from various versions of Wahhabism to jihad and terrorist war tactics and strategy, Professor Tkhagapsoev emphasized that actually the spectrum of really existing forms of radicalism is much broader:
"I mean, first of all, the manifestation scale of ethnic phobias (particularly, of Caucasian phobia), racism and chauvinism in our society. According to data from various sources, from the start of this year, 147 persons have fallen victims in the country in conflicts and clashes provoked by ethnic and racial hostility. Among them, there are 5 young men from Kabardino-Balkaria."
In the opinion of Khazhismel Tkhagapsoev, everything, on what today's Russian political practice is based - neo-liberalism, authoritarianism, conservatism and socialism - can be practically treated as radicalism.
