Opposition blames Georgian authorities for terror

The terror exercised by the authorities of Georgia continues. This phenomenon was declared today by the leaders of the United Opposition in the press conference held at the office of the Conservative Party of Georgia.

The statement was caused by the fact that Bezhan Gunava, a member of the oppositional Conservative Party of Georgia, was summoned for interrogation to the Prosecutor's Office of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti as a witness on the case of certain violations in tax inspection in 2001-2003.

"This is the period, when Gunava worked as the head of the tax inspection of the Zugdidi District," said David Gamkrelidze, leader of the oppositional Party "New Right-Wingers".

"I'd like to emphasize that currently a number of employees of the tax inspection of this District are detained on various charges. What is important, in private conversations they confirm that throughout the recent months, law enforcer have been bribing them with a release promise if they accuse Bezhan Gunava of breaching the law during his work in that position," Mr Gamkrelidze has added.

Bezhan Gunava himself told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the authorities have also started to persecute his family.

Oppositionists have addressed international organizations, diplomatic corps with a request to monitor the development of the situation.
