Abkhazia holds spontaneous rally on warfare in South Ossetia

A spontaneous rally organized by the Movement named "Abkhazian Mothers for Peace and Social Justice" against the new war triggered in the Georgia-South Ossetia conflict zone took place in Sukhum.

"Today, Georgian troops have invaded South Ossetia by breaching all the earlier agreements on fire arrangements concluded earlier about fire non-restart. Saakashvili is carrying out his artful plans to seize alien territory, killing everyone in their way, including women and children. In such a difficult moment we must support our brothers and call the global community to stop the bloody fights," said Guli Kichba, chairwoman of the Movement of Mothers, when opening the rally.

Daniil Ubiriya, deputy chair of the Public Chamber of Abkhazia, has noted that the world community "has unfortunately their eyes closed on Georgian revanchism" and addressed the Russian Federation with a demand to take urgent measures "not to admit genocide of the population of South Ossetia."

Liudmila Kuprava, a member of the Movement of Abkhazian Mothers, has noted that the news about the new war in brotherly South Ossetia caused huge pain in responsive hearts of every resident of Abkhazia, of every mother who had lost her son at the Georgian-Abkhazian war.

Youth organizations of Abkhazia also sent their representatives to speak to the rally.

When closing the rally, Guli Kichba called on the international organizations operating in Abkhazia to condemn the Georgia's aggressive policy.
