Saakashvili declares Georgia's exit out of CIS

Georgia leaves the CIS, denounces the agreement on peacekeeping operation in Abkhazia and announces Abkhazia and South Ossetia to be occupied territories.

"We've made a decision on the basis of consultations and declare, together with the chairman of the parliament, that Georgia quits the CIS," President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili said to the rally in front of the parliament of Georgia under applause of the audience.

"Yesterday I conveyed Georgia's decision to denounce the agreements on the Russian peacekeeping mission in the Abkhazian conflict zone to US President and leaders of other leading countries of the globe. Along with that, the authorities of Georgia have decided to announce the Russian troops in the Abkhazian region to be occupational forces and to declare Abkhazia and South Ossetia as the territories occupied by Russia," said Mr Saakashvili.

According to the IA "News-Georgia", Saakashvili has also called on Ukraine and other CIS members to leave the Commonwealth.

Besides, Mikhail Saakashvili has named his country to be the outpost of struggle against Russia, informs the "Interfax".
