Opposition of Ingushetia is satisfied with meeting with Evkurov

Representatives of the Ingush opposition - Maksharip Aushev, Magomed Khazbiev and Musa Pliev, who had a meeting on November 3 with the new President of Ingushetia, believe that Yunus-Bek Evkurov is capable to change the situation in the republic for the better.

Musa Pliev, advocate of the Evloev family, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the meeting with Evkurov was on the current situation in the republic. "We were satisfied with all his answers. The dialogue was very sincere and friendly, and we were not mistaken in our conclusions - the President is going to cooperate with the public and to support good ideas," said Mr Pliev.

According to his story, the Evkurov's authority, as a Hero of Russia, means quite a lot for Ingushetia. "I don't think that after such shameful Zyazikov's dismissal and all the sinuosity, the federal structures will interfere with Evkurov's putting the situation in order," said the lawyer.

Making his comments on the viewpoint that federal power agents are guilty of kidnappings and arbitrary executions in the republic, Musa Pliev has stated: "Not always kidnappings are committed by federal power agents. It was never proved. The problem was that Zyazikov wouldn't wish to prove and investigate. Prosecutor Turygin never did a move to find out those engaged. Therefore, the rumours among the population that the culprits are Russians from federal forces have settled firm. But in fact, nobody ever tried to capture them."

"When Magomed (Evloev, - note of the "Caucasian Knot") was killed at the airport, there was not a single federal power agent there, not a Russian - only Ingushes were the actors. When people of the level of Evloev are murdered by his compatriots, I don't want to speak about power agents," said Musa Pliev.

Magomed Khazbiev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that Yunus-Bek Evkurov himself invited oppositionists to his residence in Magas. As he said, the former president had never done it.

The dialogue about the developments in the republic lasted for about three and a half hours. Mr Khazbiev believes that the new President understands fully enough the situation in Ingushetia in the area of human rights, torture and extrajudicial executions. "We liked his manner at the meeting - no megalomania, an ordinary Ingush. It was a pleasure to talk to him as to a person, not as President," said Mr Khazbiev.
