Ombudsman of Georgia: detainees on mutiny case exposed to beating

Ombudsman of Georgia Sozar Subari has demanded to investigate the fact of beating of the five detainees, figuring in the mutiny case in the military unit near Tbilisi.

The "Caucasian Knot" reported that on the mutiny case in the military base in Mukhrovani 10 militaries were detained and 50 more are interrogated.

"The prisoners have visible serious injuries and traces of torture. They are Akakiy Aptsiauri, Nikoloz Dzidzilashvili, Temur Melikidze, Sandro Oshaguri and Nugzar Otanadze," the "Gazeta.Ru" quotes Mr Subari as saying.

The heaviest injuries, according to Sozar Subari, were caused to Nugzar Otanadze. In its turn, the Georgia's MIA has published a statement, saying that "Nugzar Otanadze, brother of searched Koba Otanadze, during detention had put up resistance to law enforcers and tried to run away, therefore, he received insignificant physical injuries."

The "News-Georgia" marks that assertions of the Ombudsman about beatings of the other four prisoners were not commented by the MIA.
