Director general of the TV company "Maestro" claims the explosion in Tbilisi may have been connected with the film about Ghirgvliany

The explosion near the Tbilisi independent TV company "Maestro" may be connected with the documentary on the scandalous murder of Sandro Ghirgvliany, employee of the United Bank of Georgia, by policemen, claims Mamuka Glonti, Director General of the TV company.

This morning the "Caucasian Knot" reported a powerful explosion in the building of the TV company "Maestro" which makes live broadcasts of the opposition protest actions. The entrance door and some equipment have been damaged as a result.

The Georgian MoI reports that a criminal case has been initiated on the fact of the explosion under article 187,2 of the Georgian CC (damage to or destruction of an article as a result of an explosion).

The management of the oppositional TV channel "Maestro" views the incident as a terrorist act and doubts the investigation objectiveness.

In her turn, Natiya Mikiashvili, head of TV "Maestro" information programs, explained that "representatives of the law enforcement agencies arrived to the scene with a 45-minutes' delay, while the criminological service which is obliged to immediately inspect the scene arrived one-and-a-half hours later". According to her, this means that the power authorities "are reluctant to investigate the fact".
