Georgia: refugee from Abkhazia has sewn up his mouth and eyes
On June 15, in the presence of journalists, Ramaz Aroniya, a native of the Gali District of Abkhazia, sewed up his mouth and eyes.
"I did it because our country has no suffrage, and the authorities see nothing," said Aroniya.
Ramaz Aroniya sewed up his eyes in front of the parliament in Tbilisi; and a couple of hours earlier, at the protest action of refugees from Abkhazia, held at the building of the UN Mission, he sewed up his mouth and announced a termless hunger strike, as reported by the "News-Georgia" Agency.
Aroniya demands to punish those guilty of the road accident on June 15, when three women from among the protesting refugees received bodily injuries in front of the building of the UN Mission in Tbilisi.
The TV Channel "Vesti" reports that Ramaz Aroniya threatens to sew up his ears, should the authorities fail to hear his demands.
The discussion by the UN Security Council of the resolution assuming to extend the mandate of the UN Mission in the region of Georgia and Abkhazia ended with voting, during which Russia used its veto right and blocked the resolution. Thus, the UN Mission in Transcaucasia is stopped.
