National Assembly of Armenia approves the bill "On Amnesty"

Today, the extraordinary session of the National Assembly has adopted with 98 votes for, at three refrained and one vote against, the bill on amnesty submitted by Minister of Justice Gevork Danielyan.

A proposal of 17 points was presented for consideration of Deputies. On June 17, a closed sitting of the parliamentary commission for state-legal matters gave a positive opinion on the bill.

According to the adopted Law "On Amnesty", the amnesty will cover the persons convicted under Article 225 of the Criminal Code - "Organization of mass disorders". Meanwhile, the amnesty will not cover those accused under part two, Article 316, "Violence against power official, causing threat to his life", and under part two, Article 235, "Illegal bearing of arms".
