Armenian opposition accuses law enforcement agencies of unlawful actions

In connection with the completion of investigation and the majority of court trials on the cases of Armenian oppositionists arrested in the course of the 2008 presidential elections and post-election events, the opposition Armenian National Congress (АNC) has accused the Armenian law enforcement agencies of unlawful actions and support of the "unlawful regime".

In particular, the ANC statement runs that "the regime has been pursuing the policy of open and mass state terror against opposition and the entire nation for about one and a half years, the country's law enforcement agencies and the judicial system, rather than defending the rights, freedoms and life of citizens, have become a primitive tool in the hands of the unlawful regime ".

The ANC states that it is "going to continue its consistent struggle" for restoring the constitutional order and to return "the appropriate status and role to the law enforcement agencies and the judicial system".
