In Azerbaijan, "Reporters without Borders" help family of convicted journalist

The "Reporters without Borders" (RwB), an international organization defending the freedom of press, has rendered financial help to the family of convicted journalist Mushvig Guseinov, an employee of the newspaper "Bizim Yol" (Our Way).

As said in the RwB's statement that has arrived to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent the money was given to Mushvig's wife. The decision to grant money was made, because they have three small children, and the wife does not work. Mushvig's tuberculosis was also taken into account, the statement notes.

For ethical reasons, the sum of the donation is not given.

Meanwhile, as reported by the Institute for Reporters' Freedom and Safety (IRFS) of Azerbaijan, on August 23, the health condition of Guseinov, who is serving his term in Colony No. 2, became much worse.

"Mushvig has acute pains in his back and increased temperature. He's coughing so much that at times he cannot speak," the IRFS quotes his nephew Dzhavidan Guseinov.

According to his story, Mushvig Guseinov is supervised by doctors at his penitentiary establishment.

The PR division of the Penitentiary Service said that they have no information about the state of health of prisoner Guseinov. However, according to the same source, "all the prisoners get the medical care they need."
