In Rostov, militiaman who knocked down 11 persons is tried
On August 27, the Leninskiy District Court of Rostov-on-Don started consideration of the case opened against a former militiaman, who knocked down by his car 11 persons standing at a bus stop.
The "Caucasian Knot" reported that on April 12 militiaman-trainee Anton Litvinenko, driving a "Moskvich" car, failed in steering and rushed at people who were waiting for public transport in the Tekuchova Street.
The author of the accident, who was sober at the moment, also suffered.
"The driver was a trainee at the Voroshilov Interior Division. He was enrolled as a trainee, but he was not a militiaman in the full sense. At the moment of the accident he was off-service and drove his father's car," said the Prosecutor's Office. Right after the accident, he filed an own-will retirement application.
Then, 11 persons were hospitalized, including 6 children. Tow days later, a child of 4 died in resuscitation from received traumas. Seven more persons received heavy mutilations.
On August 27, the first court session on this case took place. The criminal case was opened under part 3, Article 264, of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Violation by a car driver of Traffic Regulations that entailed, by imprudence, heavy harm to one's health and death of a citizen", which assumes up to five years of imprisonment, the "Days.Ru" writes. A mitigating circumstance is the young man's positive characteristic from the OVD, marks the Rostov-based portal "161.ru".
Let us note here that the case of the Rostov militiaman is not the first one in the SFD (South Federal District), when power agents and officials are accused of committing road accidents entailing traumas and casualties. For example, now, in the Krasnodar Territory, the Labinskiy Interdistrict Investigatory Department at the Prosecutor's Office decides on opening a criminal case against the head of the city of Kurganinsk, who knocked down by his car on August 22 two young men, who are still in hospital.
