In Georgia, trial of defendants in case on Mukhrovani revolt postponed till September 3

The trial on Mukhrovani revolt will start on September 3. The judge made this decision because of a failure of one of the advocates to appear.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 5 this year the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Georgia reported a disclosure of a huge armed revolt in Georgia aimed to disrupt the NATO exercises and capture the power.

The "Georgia Online" Agency reports that the today's decision of the judge was perceived with due understanding by the advocates of 41 defendants, who had earlier demanded more time for getting acquainted with the cases of their clients.

The "GHN" Agency reminds that most of the defendants are accused under part 2, Article 315, of the Criminal Code of Georgia ("Plot or revolt with the aim to violently change the country's constitutional order").

On June 2, leaders of the Georgian opposition accused the authorities of politicizing the army and repressing the militaries. In particular, Zviad Dzidziguri, leader of the Conservative Party, had stated that "the authorities ganged up against the army after the militaries' protest, who refused fighting against their compatriots."

In the opinion of Georgian political scientist Paata Zakareishvili, the conflict among Georgian militaries was invented as a response to Russia's discontent with the NATO exercises in the territory of Georgia.
