Russian ship starts defending Abkhazia's marine borders

Russian frontier patrol ship "Novorossisk" has reached the coast of Abkhazia and immediately started its on duty mission of guarding the marine border of this breakaway republic.

"It's the first patrol ship out of the special division formed for guarding the Abkhazia's territorial waters," said the press service of the Frontier Department of Russian FSB in Abkhazia, as reported by the "Interfax".

In total, it is planned to send up to 10 frontier sentry boats for defending the sea territory of Abkhazia; they will be based in Ochamchira settlement, the RBC reports.

Earlier, bosses of the Frontier Department said that Russian frontier guards will detain Georgian ships in Abkhazia's waters. The FSB has explained its actions by preparation to Olympiad-2014 in Sochi.
