Zubairuev urges public prosecutor to warn head of Dagestan Public Chamber against supporting extremism

Zubair Zubairuev, head of the "Echo Moskvy-Makhachkala" Radio, sent an application to the public prosecutor of Dagestan, asking him to make a warning to Abumuslim Murtazaliev, Chairman of the Public Chamber, on inadmissibility of approving extremist leaflets and saying that it was a "form of attempt to return journalists back into legal field."

Mr Zubairuev says in his application that the fact of dissemination of leaflets with threats to journalists was treated by Mr Murtazaliev as an attempt to return "some workers of the information sphere back into the legal field."

"Since return to the legal field is a positive action, hence, Murtazaliev approves the authors of leaflets, i.e., he approves threats by murder addressed of journalists. Appeal 'to return to the legal field' and to respect the ethics means that the addressed person is outside the field and neglects the ethics. Since I was mention in the leaflet among such journalists, therefore, I'm also outside the legal field, and Murtazaliev finds threats addressed to me correct," Zubairuev writes.

Therefore, as he further notes, approval of the actions of the authors of these leaflets is, by virtue of Article 1 of the Federal Law "On Counteracting Extremism", extremist activity.
