Head of Georgia's MFA calls detention of teenagers in South Ossetia "shameful show"
Grigol Vashadze, head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Georgia, has promised that the teenagers detained by power agents of South Ossetia, will be surely released. He told journalists about it today in the break of the session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the GUAM (Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova regional co-operation group).
According to the minister, all the agencies work towards liberation. Besides, international organizations have been involved. "The Georgian party cooperates with embassies of European countries and European observers. I promise you that the teenagers will be set free," Mr Vashadze has emphasized and added that the trial would not be held in Tskhinvali.
"They've understood that they made a shameful show by forcing boys of 14 admit under torture their guilt of preparing a terror act. It's beyond all the frames of immorality," Grigol Vashadze has noted.
A special concern in connection with teenagers' detention was expressed by the mission of the European Union's observers. A special statement of the mission says that the attitude to children should be kept within the framework of the Convention on Defence of Children's Rights.
