Actions demanding to stop "Electrozink" continue in Vladikavkaz

The conflict around frequent hazardous emissions by the "Electrozink" factory would not abate in the capital of North Ossetia. Despite assurances of the enterprise managers that emissions into the atmosphere took place only on October 5 and 28, people go on complaining of periodical unpleasant smell in the air.

Yesterday, on November 25, a group of local residents, led by builder Anatoly Kolkhidov, held another rally with a demand to close the "Electrozink".

On November 13, people also gathered near the factory demanding to close it.

Initially, the organizers hoped that the rally would be at least three thousand-strong, but in fact there were no more than 200 protesters, half of them being law enforcers who supervised the course of the action.

The organizers of the event on November 13 later reported that they had sent letters to factory managers, President and government of Russia, and the head of North Ossetia, stating that protest actions will proceed until the polluting factory is closed.
