South Ossetia gives three convicted citizens of Georgia out to Georgian party
President of South Ossetia Eduard Kokoity has signed a decree on pardoning three convicted citizens of Georgia. 15 minutes after the document was signed, in the frontier zone, three convicted Georgian minors - Levan Khmiadashvili, Victor Buchukuri and Georgiy Archvadze - were handed over to the Georgian party.
The event was attended by David Sanakoev, Ombudsman under the President of South Ossetia, Thomas Hammarberg, Supreme Commissioner of the Council of Europe on Human Rights, Russian Ombudsman Vladimir Lukin and Zurab Nogaideli, leader of the public-political party of Georgia named "Free Georgia".
The released convicts passed over to the Georgian side accompanied by Thomas Hammarberg and Zurab Nogaideli.
In reply to this step of the South-Ossetian leader, parents of prisoners and missing people of South Ossetia went on a protest hunger strike.
