Russian MoT allows Georgian Airways to fly to Russia
The Ministry of Transports (MoT) of the Russian Federation has sanctioned the Georgian Airways to make Tbilisi-Moscow-Tbilisi charter flights on January 8, 9 and 10, and Tbilisi-St Petersburg-Tbilisi - on January 9 and 10. The Ministry's precondition is one flight per day.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 28 the Georgian airline "Airzena-Georgian Airways" stated that it would not cope with organizing its charter flights by the New Year, although the permit from the Russian MoT was received. Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia accused Georgia of unwillingness to timely organize direct Moscow-Tbilisi flights. The official Tbilisi responded saying that accusations were groundless.
As reported by the RBC, a MoT employee said that renewal of flights on a regular basis "needs holding negotiations at a respective level."
Meanwhile, as reported by the "Georgia Online" with reference to the Georgian airline, so far no official document on the permit to make the flights has arrived from the Russian MoT.
"Kalandadze: Russia's charges of Georgia on cancellation of air flights are groundless", "Russia's MFA: Georgian authorities hamper flights to Russia", "Tbilisi: Russian human rights activists try to release their Georgian colleague".
