Hurricane damage evaluated in Southern Azerbaijan
As a result of the hurricane, which covered southern areas of Azerbaijan on January 2-3, over 300 power transmission line supports were tumbled down at the distance of several dozens kilometres. Roofs were torn off a number of houses.
The hurricane seriously damaged the Lerik and Yardymlin Districts. According to the experts of the Ministry for Emergencies, the wind speed reached at times 40 meters per second.
The IA "News-Azerbaijan" reports that in the Dashkesan District the wind blew away parts of roofs of schools and houses in a number of villages and in the district centre. In eight villages of this district the electric power supply has not been restored yet, since municipal services cannot start repairs as the wind is still strong, as the "Lenta.ru" writes.
