Rostov to hold charitable action of International Film Festival "Stalker"
In the period from February 25 to March 1, the Don State Public Library of Rostov-on-Don will host a charitable action of the International Festival of Human Rights Films "Stalker". The organizers of the action are the Moscow Guild of Theatre and Cinema Actors, Rostov Regional Branch of the Union of Journalists of Russia, supported by the European Union. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent learnt about it on February 18 from Igor Stepanov, General Producer of the Festival and a member of the Union of Cinematographers of Russia.
According to his version, this action will take place in Rostov-on-Don for the fifth time. It is funded not by the state but from the EU grant. "For four years we fought for this grant," said Mr Stepanov. "And finally the Europeans liked the topic that we offered - the topic of peaceful Caucasus."
The Festival will start with a photo show "Journalists in Hot Spots", prepared within the new festival of the Union of Journalists of Russia "Profession - Journalist". Every feature film dedicated to peace in the Caucasus will be accompanied by a meeting with its creators. On the first day spectators will see the "Dancer's Time" and talk to its author - Vadim Abdrashitov.
The program of the charitable action includes documentary films on the Caucasus; the first one will be Ruslan Gusarov's film "Emperor's Dzhigits" from the cycle "Caucasians in Russia's Wars."
The charitable action will also include a roundtable "Cinematographers' Experience in Covering History and Modern Life of the Caucasus."
The entrance to all the films of the charitable action of the Festival "Stalker" is free-of-charge.
