Karachay-Cherkessia starts project "Peace to Caucasus"

Within the project of open discussion platforms "Peace to Caucasus", which begins its work in Karachay-Cherkessia, the working group headed by the project author Maxim Shevchenko arrived in the republic.

The working group will visit districts of Karachay-Cherkessia; the first one being Adyge-Khabl. The meeting was held in the conference hall of the House of Culture. Speakers told about their pressing problems.

"Young people with higher educations cannot find employment," said Anatoly Tamazov, chairman of the Board of Elders of Circassian People. "For example, my three daughters work in Moscow. If young people find work and if we pay more attention to them, many problems will be solved by themselves, and we'll get rid of many today's negative phenomena."

Timur Zhuzhuev, an activist of the youth movement "Adyge Khasse", expressed, in his turn, his dissatisfaction with the national and cadre policies pursued by the authorities. According to his opinion, "one nation puts a spoke in the wheel of another one."

Maxim Shevchenko, a journalist from Channel One and a member of the Public Chamber of Russia, also outlined the main problems that he saw during his last trip to Northern Caucasus. First of all, these are the problems of medical institutions, the sphere education, issue of block-posts, which hamper traffic, and the problems of the Russian population living in Northern Caucasus.

After Adyge-Khabl, the working group visited the village of Erken-Shakhar of the Nogai District, where they met with Nogai nationals. The working group will stay in Karachay-Cherkessia till December 14.
