Kadyrov allows Danish Board on Refugees to work in Chechnya

The Danish Board on Refugees' Matters can resume its operation in Chechnya within the nearest two-three days. This was stated to journalists in Grozny by Ramzan Kadyrov, acting prime-minister of the Chechen Republic, after his meeting with Alvaro Gil-Robles, Commissioner of the Council of Europe for Human Rights.

According to the "Interfax", Mr Kadyrov has noted that "Mr Gil-Robles asked to allow operation of the Danish Board on Refugees' Matters in Chechnya. Tonight, we'll get together in the presence of officials of the FSB, MIA and Prosecutor's Office and discuss the issues of safety of the employees of the Danish Board on Refugees' Matters. I think that tomorrow or the day after tomorrow this organization will continue its work."

We remind you that the decision of the government of Chechnya to suspend in the territory of the republic the activity of the humanitarian organization named "Danish Board on Refugees' Matters" was made on February 7. The official notification was sent by vice-premier on social issues Khalid Vaikhanov to Stephen Tall, head of the representative office of the Department for Coordination of Humanitarian Issues of the United Nations in the Russian Federation. Acting prime-minister of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov was the first to announce suspension of the Board.
