Makhachkala residents are without electricity for several days

Residents of a district of private houses in Maxim Gorky Street in the capital of Dagestan are for three days already without electricity supplies; and nobody knows when they will be resumed.

The failure occurred in the evening on February 22 because of rapidly worsened weather in the region, which damaged many power lines. Three days have passed after the calamity, but supplies have not been restored yet.

"Apart from electricity absence, my basement premises are flooded," said Marzhanat Dzhanatlieva, who lives in No. 87 Maxim Gorky Street. "The centralized street sewage is unable to handle the load; and rain water gets into houses."
