Hundreds of former residents of Chechnya arrived in the republic to celebrate Easter

Orthodox believers in Chechnya have celebrated Easter. Over 500 former residents of the republic currently living in other regions came to celebrate the holiday.

"Many of our former fellow-countrymen came in their own cars and stayed with their relatives and friends. About one hundred guests were provided with free accommodation at hotels and vehicles. Cars for visiting six Christian cemeteries located within the town were provided to the guests in Grozny", a representative of the President's Administration and the Government of the republic said to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

He said that all in all from 500 to 1000 former residents of the republic arrived in Chechnya on that day.

Our interlocutor also emphasized that the ceremonies devoted to celebration of Easter in Chechnya passed off calmly, without any incidents. The major ceremonies were held in the temple of Archangel Michael in Grozny. Beside Orthodox residents and guests of the republic, servicemen of federal armed forces and citizens of Ukraine and Moldavia working at the building areas of the Chechen capital were present at the solemn liturgy.

Community work days for arrangement of Christian cemeteries were organized before Easter in Chechnya.
