Mass burial found in north of Chechnya
Amidst the plain Shelkovskoy District in northern Chechnya, a mass grave with remains of victims of extrajudicial executions was found. The remains of unidentified casualties were buried here by local residents in the early years of the counterterrorist operation.
The supposed location of the mass burial was reported by local residents; and on May 8 it was visited by activists of the Chechen NGO "Search for Missing Persons" and the Peacekeeping Mission named after General Alexander Lebed.
"The place of mass burial of the people, who, most probably, fell victim of extrajudicial executions, is within a cemetery, located in the outskirts of the village of Chervlyonnaya, Shelkovskoy District. According to the locals, in total, over 20 persons were buried there. For several years the villagers were coming across human remains gnawed by animal right in the fields around the village. "It's practically impossible to identify any of the victims," an NGO activist told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
According to his story, the remains buried in Chervlyonnaya should be sent to the genetic examination.
